মাধ্যমক (সংস্কৃত: माध्यमिकाः) বা শূন্যবাদ (শূন্যতা মতবাদ) বা নিঃস্বভাববাদ (কোনও স্বভাব মতবাদ) বলতে ভারতীয় বৌদ্ধ সন্ন্যাসী ও দার্শনিক নাগার্জুন কর্তৃক প্রতিষ্ঠিত বৌদ্ধ দর্শন ও অনুশীলনের ঐতিহ্যকে বোঝায়।[১][২][৩] নাগার্জুনের মূলমধ্যমককারিকা হলো ঐতিহ্যটির মূল গ্রন্থ। ঐতিহ্যটি ঘটনা (ধর্ম) এর চূড়ান্ত প্রকৃতির সাথে সাথে ধ্যানে অভিজ্ঞ চূড়ান্ত বাস্তবতার অ-ধারণাগত উপলব্ধিকেও বোঝায়।[৪]

খ্রিস্টীয় চতুর্থ শতাব্দীর পর থেকে, মাধ্যমক দর্শনের পরবর্তী বিকাশে মহাযান বৌদ্ধ ঐতিহ্যের বড় প্রভাব ছিল,[৫] বিশেষ করে সমগ্র এশিয়া জুড়ে বৌদ্ধধর্মের বিস্তার অনুসরণ করে।[৫][৬] এটি তিব্বতি বৌদ্ধধর্মে বৌদ্ধ দর্শনের প্রভাবশালী ব্যাখ্যা এবং পূর্বএশীয় বৌদ্ধ চিন্তাধারাতেও এটি প্রভাবশালী।[৫][৭]

ধ্রুপদী ভারতীয় মাধ্যমিক চিন্তাবিদদের মতে, সমস্ত ঘটনা (ধর্ম) হলো "প্রকৃতির" শূন্য,[৮] কোন "পদার্থ" বা "সার" (স্বভাব) যা তাদের "কঠিন এবং স্বাধীন অস্তিত্ব" দিতে পারে, কারণ তারা নির্ভরশীলভাবে সহ-উত্থিত হয়।[৯] কিন্তু এই "শূন্যতা" নিজেই "শূন্য": এটির নিজস্ব কোনো অস্তিত্ব নেই, বা এটি অভূতপূর্ব বাস্তবতার বাইরে বা তার চেয়ে বেশি কোনো অতীন্দ্রিয় বাস্তবতাকে নির্দেশ করে না।[১০][১১][১২]
