উপাসক
উপাসক (সংস্কৃত: उपासक) শব্দটি সংস্কৃত ও পালি শব্দ সেবক থেকে এসেছে, এবং উপাসকের স্ত্রীলিঙ্গ উপাসিকা (সংস্কৃত: उपासिका)।[১] এটি বৌদ্ধধর্মের অনুসারীদের উপাধি যারা বৌদ্ধ ক্রমানুসারে ভিক্ষু, ভিক্ষুণী বা সামানেরা সন্ন্যাসী নন এবং যারা নির্দিষ্ট ব্রত গ্রহণ করেন।[২]
আধুনিক সময়ে তাদের কাছে নিবেদিত ধার্মিকতার অর্থ রয়েছে যা "সাধারণ ভক্ত" বা "নিষ্ঠাবান অনুসারী" এর মতো পদ দ্বারা সর্বোত্তম প্রস্তাবিত হয়।[৩]
