আরণ্যক (সংস্কৃত: आरण्यक) হল প্রাচীন ভারতীয় বেদের অংশ যা ধর্মীয় ত্যাগের অর্থের সাথে সম্পর্কিত।[১] এগুলি সাধারণত বেদের পরবর্তী অংশগুলির প্রতিনিধিত্ব করে এবং বৈদিক গ্রন্থের অনেকগুলি স্তরের মধ্যে একটি।[২] বেদের অন্যান্য অংশ হল সংহিতা (আশীর্বাদ, স্তোত্র), ব্রাহ্মণ (ভাষ্য), এবং উপনিষদ (আধ্যাত্মিকতা এবং বিমূর্ত দর্শন)।[৩][৪]
আরণ্যক বিভিন্ন দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে আচার-অনুষ্ঠান বর্ণনা করে এবং আলোচনা করে; কিছু দার্শনিক অনুমান অন্তর্ভুক্ত। উদাহরণ স্বরূপ, কথা আরণ্যক প্রবর্গের সাথে যুক্ত আচার-অনুষ্ঠান নিয়ে আলোচনা করে।[৫] ঐতরেয় আরণ্যক-এর মধ্যে রয়েছে মহাব্রতের আচার-অনুষ্ঠানের ব্যাখ্যা আচার-অনুষ্ঠান থেকে প্রতীকী মেটা-আচারিক দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে।[৬] আরণ্যক, তবে, বিষয়বস্তু বা কাঠামোতে সমজাতীয় নয়।[৬] আরণ্যককে কখনও কখনও কর্ম-কাণ্ড, আচার-অনুষ্ঠান/বলি বিভাগ হিসাবে চিহ্নিত করা হয়, যখন উপনিষদগুলিকে জ্ঞান-কাণ্ড জ্ঞান/আধ্যাত্মিকতা বিভাগ হিসাবে চিহ্নিত করা হয়।[৩][৭] বিকল্প শ্রেণীবিভাগে, বেদের প্রাথমিক অংশকে সংহিতা বলা হয় এবং মন্ত্র ও আচারের আচারিক ভাষ্যকে ব্রাহ্মণ বলা হয় যেগুলিকে একত্রে আনুষ্ঠানিক কর্ম-কাণ্ড হিসাবে চিহ্নিত করা হয়, যখন আরণ্যক ও উপনিষদকে জ্ঞান-কাণ্ড বলা হয়।[৮]
