Platyrhini means flat nosed, catarrhini means narrow nose and strepsirhini means bent nose.. But these classificatiosn have been updated and changed so many times.. its highly confusing. user:Dr.saptarshi

jayanta/belayet, please see if you can clean up some of the information that is grossly wrong and misleading, eg "বানরের মুখ কুকুরের মতো।" - and language and taste of such statements may repel any reader from reding wikipedia any more.. Please remove such statements. also the writing style is quite not like an encyclopedia, I dont now what is the source and who wrote it.. If possible see if somebody can translate the en wiki page and ask me if you need terminology support.. I may take some time to respond..but if emailed I may be able to get back to you with answer to specific questions in a few days.. I wont get notification if a comment is left on my discussion page.. Thanks for the reference.. Indeed this statement in banglapedia is vague, unscientific and misleading.. They dont provide context.. it is more dog like than some other primates? Do they mean it for the flat noses? Then what about the other flat-nosed primates? Or, Do they say that because of Prognathism ie prominence of the "তুণ্‌ড" which I am sure would be so different between a doberman versus a bull dog.. so that is nonsense.. I understand that they are probably trying to mean a mongrel by dog.. but it would take a lot of stretching to call this a description.. That is sad to know.. I want to make 2 points for this present context:

1. We should not be copying from banglapedia..
2. We are not writing this article because we will write only about Macaques in bengal which may have been the aim for the bangla pedia article.. We can use Banglapedia as a guide to check what all macaques may be covered under the term বানর.. But we should double check the corresponding entries in other sources as well given such unreliable languages in banglapedia. I dont say that all their content is bad.. but the quality control is inconsistent.. But that probably applies to any language wikipedia even more.. So probably we dont have rights to point fingers at them when our own base is not that strong yet.. But I hope we are perfecting our content so that at least in a few years some of these articles will become feature and citable..
3. We aim write about all other macaques and langoors and all animals possible.. so restrictive or overgeneralizing languages that allows temporary description of only some animals is useless.. may be in future it will become a disambig page.. which will say.. বানর is a local name for the following genera and please see the corresponding entries.. and then list the entries which with be the major articles with zoologic information, probably no need to repeat them in detail here.. Then we may want to keep references from ethnic literature that cannot distinguish which species of বানর and so keep only that part in this article.. The bengali word বানর is used interchangeably with বাঁদর which is same as hindi বান্‌দর.. and thus would include a lot more species that are found in many places all over the indian subcontinent.. eg the Bonnet macaque etc etc .. Even in the banglapedia article.. they first say (probably correctly) that বানর has a longer muzzle (snout/"তুণ্‌ড") than the relatively more flat face of the hanuman.. But then they go one step fuether after that and try to say it is dog-like.. I think who so ever was writing it got carried away, in trying to overemphasizing the difference.. Also they say বানর are heavily built.. and they translate it to "gattagotta".. The male of this species is generally heavily built agreed.. but I felt the generalization is questionable.. I am not an expert, and may be wrong.. But I would accept it more comfortably if a citation is given.. anyway I feel the language "gattagotta" is a bit too colloquial a use for an encyclopedia.. Coming back to our wikipedia, more objectionably it was a verbatim copy from the bengali version of the banglapedia article jayanta cited above.. such copying must be stopped.. The information must be resynthesized and in a more global context.. jayanta has made a good start in the first paragraph.. But the second and third paragraph at this mopment is still just a copy of banglapedia.. Please find out who copied it, and whether we need to informa that person not to copy indiscriminately.. a temporary copy may be ok, if that person wants to use it as a template.. but there are better ways to use templates..
