Jag talar svenska och "Göran Persson" uttalas Göran PaRshon ("a" som i engelska "at") - inte passion. সুয়েডীয় ভাষায় "Göran Persson" এর উচ্চারণ ইয়োরান প্যার্‌শন - ইংরেজি "প্যাশন" এর মতোন নয়।

I'm going off of the traditional IPA transcription of Swedish. I agree, the Swedish pronunciation of "Persson" does not sound like the English pronunciation of "passion", mostly because the "sh"-sounds are different in the two languages (along with a number of other sound differences between Swedish and English). But one of those phonetic differences is not the existence of an actual distinct "r" sound in Standard Swedish (as far as the Swedish phoneticians have explained). The "r" in Swedish, when occurring before a coronal consonant, causes that following coronal consonant to be pronounced retroflexed (causing "s", for example. to sound somewhat like a "sh" sound with the tongue curled up, although not quite like the English- or Bengali- style "sh", where the tongue is relatively flat). The "r" itself is consequently dropped, only being realized via the retroflexion on the coronal. Now, I know you speak Swedish and I do not, but my background working with Swedish phoneticians is why I chose this spelling. However, because the "r" is phonemically (even if not so directly phonetically) a part of this word, I understand why one would want to put an "r" in there (and honestly, I am willing to discuss this more as I am open to changing my mind on this one!) --সামীরুদ্দৌলা ১২:৩৯, ২৩ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০০৬ (ইউটিসি)উত্তর দিন
