Well, you put me in doubt. But I think it is unlikely to be Arsenic. Arsenic is very toxic to humans and there is no easy antidote like warfarin has. Can you get some reference. I have references about rat poisons.. But I dont have references about their bengali names.. But what is mostly available in the market all over the world is en:Brodifacoum.. I guess it is availabel in bengal too..and I equated that with the most popular bengali name for a rat poison. I too probably remember reading somewhere that সেঁকো বিষ is warfarin.. But that was many years back I am not sure where I read that. However Arsenic is indeed sometimes used as a rat poison as you would see in the english article en:rat poison on rat poison it is listed 1st in the "other". possible. arsenic trioxide, sodium arsenite, calcium arsenite, arsenic acid are used variously as pesticides. Though the symptoms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arsenic_poisoning#Symptoms) dont give me any feeling why the name সেঁকো বিষ should apply to it, as contrast to the hot thirsty feeling of warfarin toxicity, the Last part of the name "Arsenic" does rhyme with সেঁক and may be the reason for the Bangla name. Do I change the article immediately? or wait for somebody to actually check the market? Or try to remember if the Rats dying of সেঁকো বিষ poisoning had passed lot of stool and vomit before death.
