গ্রীক, যবন বা হেল্লেনীয়রা (গ্রিক: Έλληνες, Éllines [ˈelines]) হল একটি নৃগোষ্ঠী ও জাতি, যাদের আদি নিবাস গ্রীস, সাইপ্রাস, দক্ষিণ আলবেনিয়া, আনাতোলিয়া, ইতালির কিছু অংশ ও মিসরে এবং তুলনামূলকভাবে অল্পমাত্রায় পূর্ব ভূমধ্যসাগর ও কৃষ্ণসাগর সংলগ্ন অন্যান্য দেশগুলোতে। তারা একটি উল্লেখযোগ্য প্রবাসী জনগোষ্ঠীও গঠন করে এবং বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন স্থানে বহু গ্রীক সম্প্রদায় প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।[৪৩]

গ্রীক উপনিবেশ ও সম্প্রদায় ঐতিহাসিকভাবে ভূমধ্যসাগর ও কৃষ্ণসাগরের উপকূলে গড়ে উঠেছিল, কিন্তু গ্রীক জনগণ মূলত সবসময়ই আইগীয় এবং যবন সাগরকে কেন্দ্র করে বসবাস করেছে, যেখানে ব্রোঞ্জ যুগ থেকেই গ্রীক ভাষা ব্যবহৃত হয়ে আসছে।[৪৪][৪৫] বিংশ শতাব্দীর শুরু পর্যন্ত গ্রীকেরা গ্রীক উপদ্বীপ, এশিয়া মাইনরের পশ্চিম উপকূল, কৃষ্ণসাগরীয় উপকূল, মধ্য আনাতোলিয়ার কাপ্পাদকিয়া, মিসর, বলকান অঞ্চল, কুপ্র ও কনস্টান্টিনোপলে বিস্তৃত ছিল।[৪৫] এসব অঞ্চলের অনেকগুলোই একাদশ শতকের শেষভাগের বিজেন্টিন সাম্রাজ্যের সীমান্ত এবং প্রাচীন গ্রীক উপনিবেশিত পূর্ব ভূমধ্যসাগরীয় এলাকার সঙ্গে ব্যাপকভাবে মিলে যায়।[৪৬] বিভিন্ন সময়ে গ্রীকদের সাংস্কৃতিক কেন্দ্রগুলোর মধ্যে ছিল আথীনা, থিষলনীকী, আলেক্সান্দ্রিয়া, স্মুর্ণা ও কনস্টান্টিনোপল।

আধুনিক কালে অধিকাংশ জাতিগত গ্রীক আধুনিক গ্রীক গণরাষ্ট্রের সীমানার ভেতরে বা সাইপ্রাসে বসবাস করে। গ্রীক গণহত্যা এবং গ্রীস ও তুরস্কের মধ্যে জনসংখ্যা বিনিময়ের ফলে এশিয়া মাইনরে প্রায় তিন হাজার বছর পুরোনো গ্রীক উপস্থিতির প্রায় অবসান ঘটে। অন্যান্য দীর্ঘদিনের গ্রীক জনগোষ্ঠী পাওয়া যায় দক্ষিণ ইতালি থেকে ককেশাস ও দক্ষিণ রাশিয়া ও ইউক্রেন পর্যন্ত, পাশাপাশি বিভিন্ন দেশের গ্রীক প্রবাসী সম্প্রদায়েও। বর্তমানে অধিকাংশ গ্রীক আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে গ্রীক অর্থোডক্স মণ্ডলীর সদস্য হিসেবে নিবন্ধিত।[৪৭]

গ্রীকরা সংস্কৃতি, দৃশ্যকলার শিল্প, অনুসন্ধান, নাট্যকলা, সাহিত্য, দর্শন, নৈতিকতা, রাজনীতি, স্থাপত্য, সঙ্গীত, গণিত,[৪৮] চিকিৎসাশাস্ত্র, বিজ্ঞান, প্রযুক্তি, বাণিজ্য, রন্ধনশিল্প ও খেলাধুলায় গভীর প্রভাব ফেলেছে এবং গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান রেখেছে। গ্রীক ভাষা হল প্রাচীনতম নথিভুক্ত জীবিত ভাষা[৪৯] এবং এর শব্দভাণ্ডার ইংরেজিসহ বহু ভাষা ও আন্তর্জাতিক বৈজ্ঞানিক নামকরণের ভিত্তি হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। খ্রীষ্টপূর্ব চতুর্থ শতাব্দী থেকে ভূমধ্যসাগরীয় বিশ্বে গ্রীক ছিল সর্বাধিক ব্যবহৃত লিঙ্গুয়া ফ্রাঙ্কা এবং বাইবেলের নূতন নিয়মও মূলত গ্রীক ভাষায় রচিত হয়েছিল।[৫০][৫১][৫২]
