মধ্যপশ্চিম যুক্তরাষ্ট্র, মার্কিন আদমশুমারি দপ্তর অনুসারে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে চারটি ভৌগোলিক অঞ্চলের একটি।[১] যদিও ভৌগোলিকভাবে এটি যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের উত্তরে এবং পশ্চিমের তুলনায় পূর্বভাগেই মূলত বেশি অবস্থিত, তবুও এটিকে এই নামে সম্বোধন করার কারণ হচ্ছে নিউ ইংল্যান্ড থেকে সরাসরি নিউ ইয়র্ক যাবার সময় এটি বিপরীত উপকূলের মধ্যভাগে অবস্থিত। এছাড়া নিউ ইয়র্কেই এই সম্বোধনটি প্রথমে চালু হয়। বর্তমানে ইংরেজিভাষী দেশগুলোতে এই অঞ্চলটি সংক্ষেপে মিডওয়েস্ট বলে সম্বোধন করা হয়।

এই অঞ্চলটি যুক্তরাষ্টের উত্তরমধ্য ও উত্তরপূর্বভাগের ১২টি অঙ্গরাজ্য নিয়ে গঠিত যার মধ্যে আছে ইলিনয়, ইন্ডিয়ানা, আইওয়া, ক্যানসাস, মিশিগান, মিনেসোটা, মিজুরি, নেব্রাস্কা, নর্থ ডাকোটা, সাউথ ডাকোটা, ওহাইও, এবং উইসকনসিন[১] স্থান ও মিশিগানের সাথে সম্পর্কের সূত্র ধরে কানাডার অন্টারিওকে প্রায় সময়ই মিডওয়েস্টের একটি অংশ হিসেবে ধরা হয়।[২][৩][৪] যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ২০১২ সালের আদমশুমারি অনুযায়ী এই অঞ্চলের মোট জনসংখ্যা ৬,৫৩,৭৭,৬৮৪ জন।
