The {{Verify source}} template will automatically place tagged articles into Category:Wikipedia articles needing factual verification.
Usage
Use this inline template tag to label ostensibly sourced text which appears doubtful or false and to request source verification. If the information is indeed reliable, but lacks proper citations, then use either {{Cite quote}} or {{Citation needed}} instead. In general, add this template only after a good faith attempt to verify information has been made. In many cases, either the {{Unreferenced}} or {{Refimprove}} template would suffice.
Regarding the unsourced or poorly sourced information:
- If it is doubtful but not too harmful to the whole article, use this template to ask for source verification.
- If it is doubtful and potentially harmful, move the information to the talk page and ask for a source.
- If it is very doubtful and very harmful, remove the information immediately, without the need of moving it to the talk page first.
- If it is not doubtful, use {{Cite quote}} for unsourced quotations, or {{Citation needed}} to request a citation to make the article complete.
This template is a self-reference, as it is part of the Wikipedia project rather than the encyclopedic content and it should not be substituted.
