আরাইমুটি (আরাইমুডি) (তামিল: அரைமுடி, araimūḍi ?) হল হৃদয় বা ডুমুরের পাতার মতো আকৃতির একটি ছোট রূপালী ধাতব পাত, যেটি আগে ভারতের তামিলনাড়ু রাজ্যের অল্পবয়সী মেয়েরা পরত।[১][২][৩] "আরাই" অর্থ কটিদেশ এবং "মুটি" অর্থ আচ্ছাদন।[৪]

আরাইমুটি "যৌনাঙ্গের আবরণ" নামেও পরিচিত এবং ১৯৬৬ সালে প্রকাশিত এম.এস. চন্দ্রশেখরের "সরকারি জাদুঘর, পুদুক্কোট্টাই-এ প্রধান প্রদর্শনীর নির্দেশিকা"তে একটি আরইমুটির উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে। সেটি মাদ্রাজ সরকারি জাদুঘরের প্রদর্শনীতে প্রদর্শিত হয়েছিল।[৫]

আরাইমুটির উল্লেখসমূহ[সম্পাদনা]

"মাদ্রাজের প্রেসিডেন্সিতে সালেম জেলার একটি ম্যানুয়ালের প্রথম খণ্ড" থেকে পাওয়া গেছে, "শিশুরা কখনও কখনও, দশ বছর বা তার বেশি বয়স পর্যন্তও, নগ্ন অবস্থায় থাকে, শুধুমাত্র কোমরের চারপাশে এক টুকরো দড়ি দিয়ে বেঁধে "আরাইমুটি" বা হৃদয় আকৃতির রূপার টুকরো ঝোলানো থাকে; যা গোপন করার উদ্দেশ্য থাকে সেদিকেই মনোযোগ যায়।"[৬]

"মাদ্রাজ জেলা গেজেটিয়ার্স, প্রথম খণ্ড, প্রথম অংশ" থেকে পাওয়া যাচ্ছে, "ছোট মেয়েরা, প্রায় ৩ বছর বয়স পর্যন্ত, কোমরের দড়ি থেকে ঝুলে থাকা ছোট্ট হৃদয়-আকৃতির রূপোর টুকরো (আরাই-মুটি) ছাড়া আর কিছুই পরে না" এটি দিয়ে যা গোপন করার উদ্দেশ্য, সেদিকে মনোযোগ যায়।"'[৭]

আরাইমুটির অর্থ[সম্পাদনা]

পি. পার্সিভাল দ্বারা সম্পাদিত, "পার্সিভালের তামিল-ইংরেজি অভিধান", আরাইমুটিকে (তামিল: அரைமுடி arai múḍi) সংজ্ঞায়িত করেছে "সোনা বা রূপার তৈরি একটি ছোট পাত, শালীনতার খাতিরে যা কন্যা শিশুদের কোমরবন্ধ থেকে নিম্নদেশে ঝুলিয়া দেওয়া থাকে"।[৮]

মিরন উইন্সলোর অভিধান, "উচ্চ এবং নিম্ন তামিলের একটি সর্বাঙ্গীণ তামিল এবং ইংরেজি অভিধান" লিখেছে আরাইমুটি হল "তামিল: அரைமுடி ছোট মেয়েদের গোপনাঙ্গের উপরে ধাতব একটি ছোট পাত"।[৯][১০]

আরাইমুটির বর্ণনা[সম্পাদনা]
