দ্বিতীয় বিশ্বযুদ্ধের সময়ে স্তালিনগ্রাদ শহরের দখল নিয়ে জার্মানি এবং তার মিত্রদের সাথে সোভিয়েত ইউনিয়নের যে ভয়াবহ যুদ্ধ হয়েছিল তাকেই স্তালিনগ্রাদের যুদ্ধ বলা হয় । এই যুদ্ধটি ছিল দুই পক্ষের অনেকগুলি বড় সামরিক অভিযানের সম্মিলিত যোগফল । এই যুদ্ধটি ১৭ জুলাই ১৯৪২ থেকে ২ ফেব্রুয়ারি ১৯৪৩ অবধি চলেছিল ।
স্তালিনগ্রাদের যুদ্ধের ফলাফল দ্বিতীয় বিশ্বযুদ্ধের গতিপথ ঘুরিয়ে দিয়েছিল বলে মনে করা হয় । এই যুদ্ধটি ছিল মানবসভ্যতার সবথেকে রক্তক্ষয়ী যুদ্ধ । দুই পক্ষের সম্মিলিত ক্ষতি ছিল প্রায় ১৫ লক্ষ মানুষ । স্তালিনগ্রাদের যুদ্ধ নিষ্ঠুরতার জন্য চিহ্নিত হয়ে আছে । জার্মানি স্তালিনগ্রাদ শহরের উপর আক্রমণ করে এরপর শহরের মধ্যেই যু্দ্ধ চলে এবং সোভিয়েত সেনাবাহিনী পাল্টা আক্রমণ করে । এবং অবশেষে জার্মানির সিক্সথ আর্মি এবং অন্যান্য অক্ষশক্তির বাহিনীকে সোভিয়েত সেনাবাহিনী ফাঁদে ফেলে এবং শেষে ধ্বংস করে । অক্ষশক্তির এই হার ছিল দ্বিতীয় বিশ্বযুদ্ধের দ্বিতীয় সর্বোচ্চ হার ।
