মৃতের বই

পাপাইরেস কাগজের দৃশ্যটি "হুনেফের" (খ্রিষ্টপূর্ব প্রায় ১৩৭৫), এর কথা বর্ণনা করছে। দৃশ্যে দেখাচ্ছে আনুবিস দ্বারা "হুনেফের" তার হৃদয় মাত বা সত্যের মাপকাঠি দ্বারা একটি পালকের সত্যের সাথে ওজন করছে।

মৃতের বই

মৃতের বই নামটি প্রাচীন মিশরীয়দের দেওয়া নাম। মিশরীয় এই বইটিতে জাদু, সম্মোহন এবং প্রচলিত বিধিবদ্ধ উপাসনার নির্দেশাবলী সংগ্রহীত করা হয়েছে, যা মৃত ব্যক্তির মৃত্যর পরবর্তী জীবযাপনের জন্য প্রয়োজন হবে। এইটি সাধারণভাবে সূত্র এবং সূর্য দেবতার রাতে যাত্রা গল্পতে মনোনয় দেয় (এর বিভিন্ন আবির্ভাবে) এবং খারাপ শক্তিসমূহের সঙ্গে (সাপ আপোফিস সহ) তার লড়াই, যারা তাকে রাত্রিতে থামতে চেষ্টা করে, যাতে প্রভাতে উদয় করতে না পারে। মৃতের বই সাধারণত একটি পাপাইরেসে (মিশরদেশীয় নলখাগড়া বিশেষ) গোটানো কাগজ লেখা হত এবং মৃত ব্যক্তির কফিনে অথবা কবরের কহ্মে রাখা হত। এটি মধ্য রাজ্যের কফিনে লেখার মধ্য দিয়ে প্রাচীন রাজ্যের পিরামিড লেখার সঙ্গে বিবর্তন আরম্ভ করার একটি দীর্ঘ পদ্ধতির সৃষ্টি ছিল। বইয়ের প্রায় এক-তৃতীয়াংশ পরিচ্ছেদ কফিনে লেখার আগে থেকে এর উৎপত্তি হয়।

বিশেষভাবে, বইটি প্রয়োজন হবে তার জীবযাপনের নৈতিক আচরণের সাহ্মী প্রস্তুত করতে, যা মৃত ব্যক্তি বিচারক ওসিরিস এর সামনে পেশ করবে। পরে পাপাইরেস কাগজটি মৃত ব্যক্তির কফিনে অথবা কবরের কহ্মে রাখা হত তার ধন-সম্পদের সাথে এবং সাজসজ্জা প্রয়োজনীয় গণ্য করা হতো আত্মা ভ্রমণের জন্য।

প্রাথমিকভাবে লেখাগুলো কবর কক্ষের দেয়ালে আঁকা হয়েছিল। মধ্য রাজ্যেতে ব্যবহার করা হয়েছিল সারকোফাগুসের উপরে হাইআরাগ্লিফ রং করার জন্য এবং অষ্টদশ রাজবংশ থেকে কেবল পাপাইরেসে লিখা শুরু হয়। এই ভাবে, মিশরীয় প্রত্নতত্ত্বরা অনেক সাহ্মী পেয়েছে মমি করণের এবং অনেক রাজবংশের সাধারন মৃত্যর।
