পুলিন্দ
পুলিন্দ (সংস্কৃত: पुलिंद) ছিল একটি প্রাচীন ভারতীয় উপজাতি। তারা সম্ভবত মধ্যভারতের বিন্ধ্য পর্বতমালা অঞ্চলে বাস করত।[১][২] অশোকের শিলালিপিতে (২৬৯-২৩১ খ্রিষ্টপূর্বাব্দ) পুলিন্দ উপজাতি, তাদের রাজধানী পুলিন্দ-নগর ও পার্শ্ববর্তী উপজাতিদের বর্ণনা আছে। এই বর্ণনার ভিত্তিতে মনে করা হয়, তাদের রাজধানী বর্তমান মধ্যপ্রদেশ রাজ্যের জব্বলপুর জেলায় অবস্থিত ছিল।[৩] অন্যমতে, পুলিন্দ শব্দটি থেকেই "বুন্দেলখণ্ড" নামটির উৎপত্তি। তবে এই মত বিতর্কিত।[২]
বিন্ধ্য পর্বতের সঙ্গে পুলিন্দ উপজাতির যোগ সুস্পষ্ট হলেও, মনে করা হয়, এদের কয়েকটি উপজাতীয় শাখা হিমালয় ও অসম অঞ্চলেও বসবাস করত।[৪] তাদের হিমালয়ে বসবাসকারী শাখাটিকে ভারতীয় সাহিত্যে কিরাত বলে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে।[৪]
