English: On 25 May 1895 Oscar Wilde was sent to prison for two years after being found guilty of the crime of gross indecency, following his relationship with Lord Alfred Bruce Douglas. Exhibit 'A' in Wilde's libel action was a calling card belonging to the Marquis of Queensbury. The scrawled writing on the card became central to the trial
"For Oscar Wilde posing Somdomite [sic]".
