Twelve years of continuousresidence in these mountains have made this pleasantPunjabi familiar with almost every one of the thousandodd households which make up the population of theMastuj or Khushwakte chiefship, as it is generally knownfrom the race of its hereditary rulers. So my ride to Mastuj on May nth gave ample chancefor collecting useful local information. The morning hourswere spent in taking copies and photographs of a Sanskritinscription and a rock-carved Stupa representation closelyresembling those of Pakhturinidini.
