Deutsch: Die James Brand wurde im April 1893 von der Werft Armstrong, Mitchell & Company in Low Walker an Steamship Fedsden (Alfred Suart) in London abgeliefert und 1897 an die European Petroleum Company (J. Clark) in London verkauft. 1911 übernahm die Cia Mexicana de Petroleo "El Aguila" aus Tampico das Schiff und benannte es in "San Bernardo" um. 1923 erwarb die A/S Bas II (N.T. Nielsen-Alonso) aus Sandefjord den Tanker, ließ ihn zum Walfangfabrikschiff umbauen und setzte das Schiff als "BAS II" in Fahrt. 1925 kaufte die A/S South Atlantic (L. Bruun) aus Tonsberg das Schiff und setzte es als "Esperanca" ein. 1926 ging das Schiff an die Hvalfangerselsk Mexico (L. Thorsen) in Sandefjord und nannte sie "Esperanza". Im Jahr 1933 wurde das Schiff auf die Gesellschaft Ishavet av 1933 (Leif Bryde) aus Sandefjord übertragen. 1936 übernahm Anders Jahre aus Sandefjord die Walfangfabrik und ließ sie zum Tanker zurückbauen. 1937 erfolgte eine letzte Übertragung auf die Skibs A/S Vestavind (M. Konow & Co) aus Oslo, die sie in "Vestavind" untaufte. Am 29. Mai 1937 geschah an Bord eine Explosion in Willemstad, Curaçao, woraufhin das Schiff ab Dezember 1937 in Hamburg verschrottet wurde.
