যুক্তরাজ্যের কমন্সসভায় ৬৫০ জন সদস্যকে নির্বাচিত করার জন্য ১১ জুন ১৯৮৭ তারিখে একটি সাধারণ নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। রক্ষণশীল দল নির্বাচনে ৩৭৬টি আসন পেয়ে জয়লাভ করে এবং মার্গারেট থ্যাচার টানা তৃতীয় নির্বাচনে প্রধানমন্ত্রী হিসেবে টিকে ছিলেন। শ্রমিক দল গত নির্বাচনের চেয়ে ২০টি বেশি আসন জিতেছে, যার বেশিরভাগই রক্ষণশীলদের কাছ থেকে।
