ব্রিটিশ ব্যক্তি (ইংরেজি: British ব্রিটিশ্, Briton ব্রিট্যন্, বা Brit ব্রিট্) বলতে যুক্তরাজ্য, ব্রিটিশ ওভারসিজ অঞ্চল ও ব্রিটিশ রাজমুকুটের নির্ভরশীল অঞ্চলের নাগরিকদের বোঝায়।[২২][২৩] ব্রিটিশ জাতীয়তা আইন আধুনিক ব্রিটিশ নাগরিকত্ব ও জাতীয়তা নির্ধারণ করে এবং ব্রিটিশ জাতীয় থেকে উত্তরাধিকারসূত্রে এটি লাভ করা যায়। ঐতিহাসিক প্রসঙ্গে ব্যবহার করলে "ব্রিটিশ" বা "ব্রিটন" বলতে প্রাচীন ব্রিটন জাতিকে বোঝায়, যা হতে ওয়েলশ, কর্নিশ, ব্রেটন[২২] ও ইংরেজ জাতির এক বড় অংশ উদ্ভূত।[২৪][২৫] এছাড়া "ব্রিটিশ ব্যক্তি" বলতে প্রাক্তন ব্রিটিশ সাম্রাজ্যের নাগরিকদের বোঝায়, যারা ১৯৭৩ সালের আগে দেশে বসতি স্থাপন করেছিল এবং তাদের কোনো ব্রিটিশ নাগরিকত্ব বা জাতীয়তা নেই।[২৬]

যদিও মধ্যযুগের শেষ থেকে ব্রিটিশ পরিচয়ের অস্তিত্বের কথা জানা যায়, ১৬০৩ সালের ইউনিয়ন অব দ্য ক্রাউনস এবং ১৭০৭ সালে গ্রেট ব্রিটেন রাজ্য গঠনের ফলে ব্রিটিশ জাতীয় পরিচয়ের সূত্রপাত হয়েছিল।[২৭] অষ্টাদশ শতাব্দী ও ঊনবিংশ শতাব্দীর শুরুতে ব্রিটেন যখন ফ্রান্সের সাথে বিভিন্ন বৈশ্বিক লড়াইয়ে জড়িত ছিল, তখন এক অভিন্ন ব্রিটিশ পরিচয়ের জন্মলাভ করেছিল এবং ভিক্টোরীয় যুগে এটি আরও বিকশিত হয়েছিল।[২৭][২৮] গ্রেট ব্রিটেন ও উত্তর আয়ারল্যান্ড যুক্তরাজ্যের প্রতিষ্ঠার জটিল ইতিহাস গ্রেট ব্রিটেনে জাতীয়তা ও অন্তর্ভুক্তির এক বিশেষ ভাব সৃষ্টি করে।[২৭] ব্রিটিশ পরিচয় আরও পুরনো ইংরেজ, স্কটিশ ও ওয়েলশ পরিচয়ের উপর অধিষ্ঠিত হয়েছিল এবং এই পুরনো পরিচয়গুলো তাদের পৃথক অস্তিত্ব বজায় রাখলেও সেখানে এক অভিন্ন ব্রিটিশ পরিচয়ের ভাব প্রকাশিত হয়।[২৯] জনগোষ্ঠী ও ধর্মসম্প্রদায়ের ভিত্তিতে দীর্ঘকালীন বিভাজনের জন্য উত্তর আয়ারল্যান্ডে ব্রিটিশ পরিচয় বহুবিতর্কিত।[৩০]
