স্টোনওয়াল দাঙ্গা

স্টোনওয়াল দাঙ্গা (ইংরেজি: Stonewall riots, স্টোনওয়াল দাঙ্গা ) সমকামিতার ইতিহাসে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ঘটনা। নিউইয়র্ক সিটির গ্রীনউইচ গ্রামের ক্রিস্টপার রোডের ৫১-৫৩ নাম্বারে স্টোনওয়াল ইন নামে একটা রেস্তরা সমকামীদের আড্ডা দেয়ার স্থান হিসেবে পরিচিত ছিলো বহুদিন ধরেই। ষাট-সত্তুরের দশকে পুলিশ এ ধরণের গে বার গুলোতে হঠাৎ করেই হামলা চালাতো। এ ধরনের বারে এসে পুলিশ সমকামীদের উপর চড়াও হয়ে গণহারে এ্যারেস্ট করে গাড়িতে তুলে নিয়ে যেত। আর সে সময় সমকামীদের পক্ষে তেমন কোন আইন ছিলো না।

১৯৬৯ সালের ২৮ শে জুন তারিখে পুলিশ খুব স্বাভাবিক নিয়মেই গ্রীন উইচের গ্রামের গে-বারটিতে হানা দেয়। কিন্তু সেদিন পুলিশ বারটিতে হানা দিলে সেখানকার লোকেরা অন্য সব সময়ের মতো পিছু না হটে সরাসরি পুলিশের সাথে সম্মুখ- লড়াইয়ে লিপ্ত হয়। থালা বাসন, গ্লাস, বোতল – যার সামনে যা কিছু ছিলো তাই নিয়েই পুলিশের মোকাবেলা শুরু করলো। একটা পর্যায়ে সব পুলিশদের রেস্তরার ভিতরে আবদ্ধ করে ফেলে বাইরে থেকে তালা লাগিয়ে দেয়। সেই পুলিশদের উদ্ধার করতে আরো নিরাপত্তারক্ষীদের পাঠানো হয়। কিন্তু তারা আবদ্ধ সহকর্মীদের দুরাবস্থা দেখা ছাড়া খুব একটা সুবিধা করতে পারেলেননা না। জনগণ ততক্ষণে রেস্তরার আশে পাশের রাস্তাগুলো দখল করে নিলো। পুলিশদের ওভাবেই আবদ্ধ করে রেখে দিনভর আর রাত জুড়ে দাঙ্গা চলতে থাকে।

এর পরদিন সমকামীদের সমর্থনে গ্রীনউইচ গ্রামের আশে পাশ থেকে আরো বহু লোক এবং সংগঠন এগিয়ে আসে। পুলিশদের উদ্দেশ্য পাথর ছোঁড়া থেকে আগুন জ্বালানো, পোড়ানো – কোন কিছুই বাদ যায় নি। প্রায় চারশ পুলিশএর সাথে যুদ্ধ করছিলো প্রায় দু হাজার সমকামী।

পরবর্তি প্রভাব

স্টোনওয়াল ইন-এর প্রভাব পরবর্তি কালের আমেরিকান রাজনীতিতে ব্যাপক ভাবে পড়েছিলো। নিউইইয়র্কের মেয়র জন লিন্ডসের প্রেসিডেন্টশিয়াল ক্যম্পেইনের সামনে সমকামীরা দল বেঁধে বিক্ষোভ প্রদর্শন করে। তাদের আন্দোলনের মুখে মেয়র পুলিশকে নির্দেশ দিতে বাধ্য হন – সমকামী বারে হানা দিয়ে লোকজনকে গ্রেপ্তার এবং হেনস্তা না করতে। সংখ্যালঘু যৌনপ্রবৃত্তির কারণে সমকামীরা রাষ্ট্রীয়ভাবে যে নিপীড়নের স্বীকার হচ্ছিলেন, তা থেকে মুক্তির পথে এগুতে পারলেন তারা। এই দিনটিকে স্মরণ করে সমকামী অধিকার কর্মীরা প্রতি বছর গে প্রাইড প্যারেডে অংশ নিয়ে থাকে।
