পারভিন একটি রংবিশেষ যা নীল ও বেগুনি রঙের মাঝামাঝি বা সমগোত্রীয়। ইংরেজিতে এটিকে বলা হয় পেরিউইঙ্কল যা এসেছে পেরিউইঙ্কল (বৈজ্ঞানিক নাম: Vinca minor) নামক একটি ফুলের নাম থেকে। মূলত পেরিউইঙ্কল ফুলের রঙটিই পেরিউইঙ্কল নামে পরিচিতি পেয়েছে। পেরিউইঙ্কল ফুল ও রঙ দুটিরই বাংলা পরিভাষা করা হয়েছে পারভিন। পারভিন শব্দটি নেওয়া হয়েছে পেরিউইঙ্কলের ইতালীয় ও ফরাসি প্রতিশব্দ পারভিনচা বা পারভেনচে থেকে।
এটিকে ল্যাভেন্ডার নীল রঙ বলেও অভিহিত করা হয়।[৩] এটিকে নীল রঙের সাদাটে রূপ বা প্যাস্টেল নীল রঙ হিসেবেও বিবেচনা করা যেতে পারে।
ইংরেজি ভাষায় রঙের নাম হিসেবে পেরিউইঙ্কল শব্দটির রেকর্ডকৃত প্রথম ব্যবহার হয় ১৯২২ সালে।[৪]
