caption: a caption to the image, e.g. describing where the picture was taken and towards which direction the camera was facing
location: where the beach is located
coordinates: the coordinates of the beach
access: which roads, footpaths, railway stations, etc. give access to the beach
beach_length: length of the beach
beach_number: beach number if allocated (e.g. by Surf Life Saving Australia - if so, enter the beach number with a link to the beach's page on the Beachsafe website)
hazard_rating: hazard rating given to the beach (e.g. by Surf Life Saving Australia). Enter the rating out of 10 with description in brackets
patrolled: whether or not the beach is patrolled by lifeguards or similar

The HTML mark up produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and location parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue article across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Within the hCard is a Geo microformat, which additionally makes the coordinates (latitude & longitude) parsable, so that they can be, say, looked up on a map, or downloaded to a GPS unit.
