WikiConference India 2023: Proposal to WMF

Hello everyone,

We are happy to inform you that we have submitted the Conference & Event Grant proposal for WikiConference India 2023 to the Wikimedia Foundation. We kindly request all the community members to go through the proposal -- including the community engagement survey report, program plan, venue and logistics, participation and scholarships, and the budget, and provide us with your suggestions/comments on the talk page. You can endorse the proposal in the endorsements section, please do add a rationale for supporting this project.

According to the timeline of the Conference and Event Grants program, the community can review till 23 September 2022, post that we will start integrating all the received feedback to make modifications to the proposal. Depending on the response of community members, an IRC may be hosted next week, especially if there are any questions/concerns that need to be addressed.

We reopened the survey form and if you are still interested in taking part in the survey and you have something in mind to share or want to become a part of the organizing team, please fill out the form so we all can work together.

আন্দোলনের সনদ: দক্ষিণ এশিয়া আঞ্চলিক আলোচনা

প্রিয় সবাই,

আপনারা অনেকেই জানেন যে, আন্দোলনের সনদ নিয়ে আঞ্চলিক আলোচনা শুরু হয়েছে। এমসিডিসি আন্দোলন সনদের তিনটি অধ্যায় সম্পর্কে সম্প্রদায়ের মতামত চায়:

১. প্রস্তাবনা (Preamble)

২. মূল্যবোধ ও নীতি (Values & Principles)

৩. ভূমিকা এবং দায়িত্ব (উদ্দেশ্যের বিবৃতি) (Roles & Responsibilities)

আপনি কিভাবে অংশগ্রহণ করতে পারেন?

আপনি গুগল মিট (Google Meet)-এর মাধ্যমে ২ ডিসেম্বর ২০২২ (শুক্রবার) সন্ধ্যা ৮:০০ থেকে ৯:৩০ BST (১৪:০০ - ১৫:৩০ ইউটিসি) দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার আঞ্চলিক আলোচনায় যোগ দিতে পারেন। আপনার ক্যালেন্ডার-এ ইভেন্ট যোগ করুন।

প্রতিক্রিয়া শেয়ার করার অন্যান্য উপায় হল:

Feminism and Folklore 2023

Dear Wiki Community,

Christmas Greetings and a Happy New Year 2023,

You are humbly invited to organize the Feminism and Folklore 2023 writing competition from February 1, 2023, to March 31, 2023 on your local Wikipedia. This year, Feminism and Folklore will focus on feminism, women's issues, and gender-focused topics for the project, with a Wiki Loves Folklore gender gap focus and a folk culture theme on Wikipedia.

You can help Wikipedia's coverage of folklore from your area by writing or improving articles about things like folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, women and queer folklore figures, folk game athletes, women in mythology, women warriors in folklore, witches and witch hunting, fairy tales, and more. Users can help create new articles, expand or translate from a list of suggested articles.

Organisers are requested to work on the following action items to sign up their communities for the project:

  1. Create a page for the contest on the local wiki.
  2. Set up a fountain tool or dashboard.
  3. Create the local list and mention the timeline and local and international prizes.
  4. Request local admins for site notice.
  5. Link the local page and the fountain/dashboard link on the meta project page.

This year we would be supporting the community's financial aid for Internet and childcare support. This would be provided for the local team including their jury and coordinator team. This support is opt-in and non mandatory. Kindly fill in this Google form and mark a mail to support@wikilovesfolklore.org with the subject line starting as [Stipend] Name or Username/Language. The last date to sign up for internet and childcare aid from our team is 20th of January 2023, We encourage the language coordinators to sign up their community on this link by the 25th of January 2023.

সর্বজনীন আচরণবিধির প্রয়োগ নির্দেশিকার ওপর দ্বিতীয় সম্প্রদায়ব্যাপী অনুসমর্থ‌ন নির্বাচন আগামী ২০২৩ সালের জানুয়ারির মাঝামাঝিতে অনুষ্ঠিত হতে যাচ্ছে। ২০২২ এর মার্চের নির্বাচনের প্রেক্ষাপটে এই নির্বাচনটি অনুষ্ঠিত হতে যাচ্ছে। ২০২২ এর নির্বাচনে অধিকাংশ ভোটারই প্রয়োগ নির্দেশিকার পক্ষে রায় দিয়েছিলেন এবং অংশগ্রহণকারীরা নির্বাচনকালীন সময়ে সম্প্রদায়ের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয়গুলো চিহ্নিত করতেও সাহায্য করেছিল। বোর্ডের সম্প্রদায় বিষয়ক কমিটি এসব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থানগুলো পর্যালোচনার অনুরোধ জানিয়েছে।

সম্প্রদায়ের মতামত পর্যালোচনা ও প্রয়োজনীয় পরিবর্তন আনয়নে স্বেচ্ছাসেবার ভিত্তিতে পরিচালিত পর্যালোচনা কমিটি কঠোর পরিশ্রম করেছে। মূল নথির প্রশিক্ষণ ও সম্মতি, প্রক্রিয়ায় ব্যক্তিগত গোপনীয়তা ও স্বচ্ছতা এবং পঠনযোগ্যতা ও অনুবাদযোগ্যতার মতো গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশগুলোতে তাঁরা প্রয়োজনীয় হালনাগাদ করেছেন।

এখানে সংশোধিত প্রয়োগ নির্দেশিকা এবং এখানে পরিবর্তনসমূহের তুলনা দেখতে পারবেন।

কীভাবে ভোট প্রদান করবো?

১৭ জানুয়ারি, ২০২৩ থেকে ভোটগ্রহণ শুরু হবে। সিকিওরপোল ব্যবহার করে কীভাবে ভোটপ্রদান করা যাবে, তার বিস্তারিত তথ্য মেটা উইকির এই পাতায় পাওয়া যাবে।

কারা ভোটপ্রদান করতে পারবেন?

    • Mismatch Finder: Working on giving mismatch providers access to the reviews of the mismatches they uploaded (phab:T304794)

    • Vector 2020 skin: the search that works properly with Wikidata has been deployed
    • Entity Schemas: Making progress on the proof of concept that will help us figure out the technical way forward
    • REST API: getting ready to deploy the first version to test.wikidata.org on February 17th
    • Lexicographical data: When linking to a Sense in a statement the language of the Lexeme for that Sense is now also shown. This makes it easier to understand translation statements for example (phab:T207392)
    • Constraints: Constraint violations are now also shown to logged out users (phab:T272132)
    • Fixing a regression where Wikipedia and co are no longer notified about a disconnected sitelink when the Item that contains the sitelink is deleted (phab:T326082)
