সুসি (বস্ত্র)
সুসি ছিল ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশে উৎপাদিত বহুবর্ণযুক্ত ডোরাকাটা কাপড়ের একটি নাম। এটি ছিল তাঁতের পাতলা সুতি বা রেশম অথবা দুটির মিশ্রণযুক্ত কাপড়। এতে রঙিন বুননের ডোরা থাকত।[১][২][৩][৪] মুঘল আমলে পাঞ্জাব অঞ্চলটি এর উৎপাদন এবং রফতানির জন্য পরিচিত ছিল।[৫] কিছু বিখ্যাত নকশাগুলি ছিল লাল ও সাদা ডোরা, নীল ও সাদা ডোরা এবং সবুজ ও সাদা ডোরা।[৫]
নাম[সম্পাদনা]
সুসি শব্দটি ছিল সমস্ত ডোরাকাটা কাপড়ের জন্য ব্যবহৃত মূল শব্দ।[৪][৫]
গঠনবিন্যাস[সম্পাদনা]
সুসি ছিল বুননের উল্লম্ব ডোরাকাটা দিয়ে তৈরি সাধারণ কাপড়।[৬][৭] সুসি উৎপাদিত হত সুতির বা রেশমের অথবা সুতো এবং রেশমের সংমিশ্রণে।[৮][৯][১০] রেশম এবং সুতি সংমিশ্রিত সুসিকে গাবরি বলা হত।[৫]
সুসির প্রকার ও উৎপাদন[সম্পাদনা]
অন্যান্য সুতি বস্ত্রের সাথে সুসি উৎপাদন করা হত হোশিয়ারপুর, গুরুদাসপুর, পেশোয়ার, লাহোর, মুলতান, অমৃতসর, লুধিয়ানা , ঝং, শাহপুর, জলন্ধর, দিল্লি, গুড়গাঁও, রোহতক, কার্নাল, রেওয়ারী, পানিপথ [১১] এবং সিন্ধু অঞ্চলে।[১২] পাকিস্তানের মিয়ানওয়ালি জেলার কলাবাগে তৈরি এক ধরনের তাঁত-উৎপাদিত সুসির নাম ছিল সালারি।[১৩] মুলতানের সুসি ইংল্যান্ডে বিখ্যাত ছিল।[৫]
ব্যবহার[সম্পাদনা]
কাপড়টি পাজামা এবং সালোয়ারের (আলগা ট্রাউজার্স) মত নিম্নাঙ্গের পোশাক তৈরি করতে ব্যবহৃত হত।[৫][৮] সংমিশ্রিত সুসি পায়জামা এবং পেটিকোটের জন্য ব্যবহৃত হত।[১০]
