ধর্মীয় নিপীড়ন

ধর্মীয় নিপীড়ন (ইংরেজি: Religious persecution) হলো কোনো একটি মানুষকে বা কোনো একটি ধর্মসম্প্রদায়ের মানুষকে তাদের ধর্মবিশ্বাসের অজুহাতে শারীরিক ও মানসিক ভাবে বিপর্যস্ত করা। কোনো একটি ব্যক্তির ভয়ংকর ধর্মান্ধতা ধর্মীয় নিপীড়নের কারণ হয়ে উঠতে পারে। একটি ব্যক্তির জন্য পুরো সম্প্রদায়ের সম্মান কলঙ্কিত হয়। সামাজিক ক্ষেত্রে অমানবিকতা ও নিসংশ্রতা ক্রমে হিংস্রতা ও নিপীড়ন প্রবনতার কারণ হয়ে ওঠে। নিপীড়নের ফলে কিছু মানুষকে সমাজের দ্বিতীয় শ্রেনীর নাগরিক হিসাবে প্রতিপন্ন করা হয়^[১] এবং ব্যক্তিটির স্বাধীনতা হরণ হয়। সমাজে বাঁচার অধিকার, বিশ্বস্ততা এবং উদারতার প্রতি একটি প্রশ্ন চিহ্ন দেখা দেয়।^[২]

বেতেম্য়ান ধর্মীয় নিপীড়ন সম্বন্ধে বলেছেন^[৩],

It must be personally costly... It must be unjust and undeserved... it must be a direct result of one's faith.

জাতিগত ধর্মীয় বিশ্বাসও কখনো কখনো ধর্মীয় নিপীড়নের কারণ হয়ে ওঠে। ঐতিহাসিকভাবে জার্মানিতে ইহুদিদের প্রতি আক্রমণ, মিয়ানমারে রোহিঙ্গা মুসলিম জনগোষ্ঠীর উপর চালিত হত্যাকাণ্ড, ভারতের আসামে বাঙালিদের প্রতি আক্রমণ পরবর্তী ক্ষেত্রে হত্যাকান্ডের^[৪]^[৫] রূপ নিয়েছে।
