এই পাতাটিতে ভারতে প্রাপ্ত প্যাপিলিওনিডি গোত্রের প্রজাপতিদের বৈজ্ঞানিক নামসহ নথিভুক্ত করা হল। উজ্জ্বল রঙ আর বড় আকৃতির জন্য অন্য সব দলের তুলনায় এদের বেশি চোখে পড়ে। সোয়ালো (আবাবিল) পাখির লেজের সাথে তুলনা করে, এই প্রজাপতিদের দলটিকে সোয়ালোটেল প্রজাপতিও বলা হয়। ভারতে মোট প্যাপিলিওনিডি প্রজাপতিদের সংখ্যা ১০৭টি। তাদের মধ্যে বেশির ভাগই উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতে পাওয়া যায়। পশ্চিমবঙ্গে এখনও পর্যন্ত ৩৯টির সন্ধান পাওয়া গেছে।[১]
