তন্ত্র
তন্ত্র (সংস্কৃত: तन्त्र) হিন্দুসমাজে প্রচলিত ঈশ্বর উপাসনার পথবিশেষ। শিব ও মহাশক্তির উপাসনা-সংক্রান্ত শাস্ত্রগুলিকেও "তন্ত্রশাস্ত্র" নামে অভিহিত করা হয়।[১] তন্ত্রশাস্ত্র মতে, এই মহাবিশ্ব হল শিব ও মহাশক্তির দিব্য লীলা।[১] তন্ত্রে যেসব ধর্মীয় আচার-অনুষ্ঠানের বর্ণনা রয়েছে, তার উদ্দেশ্য মানুষকে অজ্ঞান ও পুনর্জন্মের হাত থেকে মুক্তি দেওয়া।[১]
খ্রিস্টীয় প্রথম সহস্রাব্দের প্রথম থেকে তন্ত্র বিকাশলাভ করতে শুরু করে। গুপ্তযুগের শেষভাগে এই প্রথার পূর্ণ বিকাশ ঘটেছিল। হিন্দু, শিখ, বৌদ্ধ ও জৈনদের ধর্মবিশ্বাসে তন্ত্রের প্রভাব দেখা যায়। পরবর্তীকালে বৌদ্ধধর্মের হাত ধরে তন্ত্র পূর্ব এশিয়া ও দক্ষিণ পূর্ব এশিয়ায় বিস্তার লাভ করে।[২]
