Is it উইকিপিডিয়া or উইকিপেডিয়া? In the Wikipedia:whatever articles it is উইকিপেডিয়া:, but on the main page it is উইকিপিডিয়া! The english pronounciation is ৱিকিপীডিয়া in Bengali 2nd instance, most likely উইকিপিডিয়া or উইকিপীডিয়া in Bengali-friendly Bengali. 1. The letter "ৱ" is non-existent in Bangla. It exists in Assamese. It has been this way forever. Simple. There's no Bengali-friendly Bengali issue here.
2. The English letter clusters "wo, "wi/we", "wu" are represented by "উও/ও", "উই", and "উ", respectively.
3. The standard Bengali spelling conventions forbid the use of long vowels in any foreign word. Hence, পিডিয়া, not পিডীয়া। We don't quite blindly follow the conventions used in other Indian languages (if that's what you are hinting at).
4. Yes, the project namespace is showing the suffix "উইকিপেডিয়া", for a technical error. It should be "উইকিপিডিয়া". It is hardcoded in the server software and is not easy to correct on the fly, even for administrators. We are in the process of contacting the developers. However, this is not a major inconvenience of any kind. The project namespace is not part of the actual encyclopedia, the main namespace (with no prefix; you know, the actual encyclopedia articles) is what matters. I know that the ৰ and ৱ characters do not exist, but I was just illustrating the pronounciation. And you are right, Bengali Wikipedia is the only one that has gone for পিডিয়া, not পীডিয়া, as the Hindi, Gujarati, Kashmiri, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi and Sanskrit Wikipedias have chosen পীডিয়া. Anyway, the Assamese "wa" is not going to be used in the actual titles or anywhere in the content of the article (in actual transliteration, w=ওয়, wa=ওয়া, wu=উ, wi=উই, etc are probably going to be used); The Assamese "wa" will be used as a special letter to denote the [w] sound only in the approximate non-IPA pronunciation part.
